The phrase “Let’s go Brandon”

The phrase “Let’s go Brandon”, a euphemism for an obscene anti-Biden rant should be abhorrent to all Americans regardless of their political affiliation. And for this vulgar chant to be proclaimed in a church is blasphemous.

I struggled whether or not to post this. I tend not to be overly specific and try to lean toward the positive but this tweet spoke to a feeling I’ve had for a while…

I hate this phrase for a couple of reasons. First, for the Christian I think it blatantly goes against scripture. We are commanded to humble ourselves and pray for our leaders. I don’t know if this phrase has been adopted by Christians specifically but, anecdotally, I see a lot of it coming from Christians so I can see how that connection is made. Joe Biden is still a child a God and I’m sure Jesus would love nothing more than to spend all eternity with him. And here we are cursing him with our social media posts and chants from a church of all places.

Secondly, just because it’s censored doesn’t make it any less of a curse. After all, some of the most hurtful and destructive words don’t have any curse words in them. But if you want to say the phrase then say the phrase. Drop the f-bomb and be clear with your intentions. This phrase isn’t cute and it’s usage isn’t clever.

Brother and Sister, I would ask you to consider what fruit you produce by using this phrase? If it’s something beautiful then carry on. If it’s not then why continue to use it?

For what it’s worth; I feel the same way about profanity used against Trump in the same manner. Like us all, I’m sure Jesus wants to spend eternity with him in heaven as well.
