This is a good time to remind all of us to be more than just headline readers.

Our inability and unwillingness to read, study, ask critical questions (even of our "own" sides), and grasp nuance continues to be a tremendous challenge to our society.

And here's the most important thing: Read the news and stay informed and engaged. But above all, make sure you read the Scriptures and be in prayer for our world. I'm reminded of these words from theologian Karl Barth who wrote, '"Take your Bible and take your newspaper, and read both. But interpret newspapers from your Bible."

I couldn’t agree with this more. I usually have something to add but this is so well said it’ll stand on its own here. Not that the other quotes don't it's just that this one doesn't...you know what, I'm going to stop typing now.

Note: My challenge with illustrating beards continues. It’s either no beard or straight up mountain man; there is no in-between.
