Well, there’s the top 9 posts I created this year. If I would have sat down on New Years eve of 2020 I would have never have imagined how things would have turned out for this year. It’s amazing and I’m so thankful for every part of it.
Things that went well: I’m not a huge numbers person but everything went up this year. I’m pretty sure I started out the year with a thousand followers and that’s gone up quite a bit. The likes, and comments, and DM’s have all gone up and I’m barely keeping my head above water with those. My posting went *way* up. The year before I may have had 150 posts. For a while I was posting at least once a week and that turned into 2, then 3, and now I’m at nearly 5. This year I had almost 240 posts with the vast majority of those being original art. The commission requests went way up and I started selling stickers which was so much fun. Sketchy Sermons was able to pay for a new iPad and Christmas presents and I was able to tithe to some charities here in Lynchburg that help feed people so I’m super thankful for all that.
Things that went NOT so well. As the commissions and interest has gone up I’ve had a really hard time keeping pace with everything. I feel like this is an artist trope but I said “YES” to everything that came my way and I dropped a lot of balls because of it. I’m still trying to pick them all up. I work on commissions when I can but as the hours in the day get shorter I find myself saying “I’ll have to work this tomorrow” way more times than I’d like. Everybody has been really understanding but it’s not how I want to work long term. This isn’t my full time thing but it appears like I’m going to start to need to treat it with more focused and dedicated time.
Ultimately, I have no idea what things are going to look like this year. I pray every morning before I make one of these things that it’s honoring to God, executed with the right heart, and encouraging to someone. I figure if I keep going down that path then God will guide this where He wants it to go.
Thanks for being here - I’ve had so many great people reach out and I’ve learned a lot this year. I appreciate you all being so awesome.
