When I actually end up drawing someone I like to listen to video of them talking. I think it helps me understand a little more where they are coming from and it helps with the art to see their face in different positions. I had a few saved tweets from Justing Giboney but I was listening to his appearance from last year on Way Nation YouTube and he said this and I thought, “well….there’s the quote.”

I’m not calling out anyone specifically because I see it a lot but there’s a sentiment out there that if you vote democrat you are voting for evil or definitely can’t be a Christian because “no Christian would vote democrat.” There’s also a fair amount of “conservatives are evil, they just care about the rich.” I think we could do a lot better with asking why people feel the way they do rather than just writing them off into a stereotype with a nasty or judgmental comment. I find when you do that, a lot of times, you discover people that are dealing with really difficult problems without clear answers.

Plus - it’s possible to pro-life democrat. It’s possible to be a conservative focused on racial justice. I love that we’re all nuanced and have different opinions far outside of what our political affiliation would suggest. We can have these differences and still be loving to one another.

On a side note: you wouldn’t believe how many times I drew this mustache. 😅
