We should be saying “You have your opinion and I have mine…

We should be saying “You have your opinion and I have mine but let’s focus on what we agree upon and go execute the mission.” Instead, we say “You don’t agree with me on this? Well screw you. I don’t want to work with you.” Now we can’t get anything done.

It’s Veterans Day here in the U.S. so I figured it would only be appropriate to feature a vet!

This line is from a 5 minute segment of his podcast I came across on YouTube called “Divisiveness in our own country.” He’s talking about the working state of our country, how the division is causing an inability to work together, and how there are other actors in the world that are working against us to further the divide and render us unable to do keep moving forward.

Anybody who has ever read the “The Screwtape Letters” knows where I’m going with this.

One thing I’ve found with people who have served almost universally is a shared mutual respect for each others service. Sure; the Navy people joke with the Marines. The Air Force is “the smartest branch because they send their officers into the battle.” And it’s not too long before the Army people (like myself) are referenced for having the worst dress uniforms. But there’s an instant camaraderie there; we were all a part of something bigger than ourselves and we came together to accomplish something we couldn’t have done alone.

I know I’m going to get pushback on this because some of you are “called to judge.” Ok - you do what produces the best fruit. But I think we could accomplish a lot more if we stopped calling each other “heretics” or “worshippers of satan” around politics and secondary and tertiary issues and united around our shared belief that Jesus is the only hope of the world and it’s only through Him that any of us are saved. Let’s focus on what we agree upon and carry on to execute the mission.

Thanks to all of you that served. It’s worth way more than a free dinner and lifetime 10% discount at Lowes for sure. 🇺🇸
