I’ve talked briefly about the “Rise and Fall of Mars Hill Podcast” before and I think my sentiment is the same, if you’re listening to heal, to learn how to spot problems, to identify behavior that could be problematic then carry on! I’m sure that’s one of the many reasons Mike created the podcast. I stopped listening because I found myself showing up to see the car crash and I don’t think that’s the heart to approach that kind of content with.

What I enjoyed about this podcast, and what I really enjoy about this kind of interview and the kind of content that both Preston and Mike create, is dealing with other ideas and concerns that may challenge some preconceived notions that I already held. People are super messy and it takes a fair amount of effort to understand their reasons for doing things that may seem unconscionable to us but perfectly reasonable to them at the time they did them.

This quote in particular stuck out to me because I sometimes fall prey to that desire to just outsource my thoughts to someone else that I trust. I think that’s why I like jumping across the different chasms of ideas here on social media. When an idea or a thought seems uncomfortable, I want to see for myself why that’s the case.

All that to say, I learned a lot from this conversation! Although my podcast app is going to groan when I add yet another podcast to it! 😅
