Not all stories of healing

not all stories of healing
are the ones where
sight is restored
or diseases cease.

but we won’t be discipled
to witness the miracle
of perseverance,

unless stories of suffering
are shared in sermons
as stories of profound grace.

I’ve found that if you know more than a couple of people the likelihood that one of them is dealing with some kind of chronic and painful affliction is pretty high. While stories of healing are possible I’ve found it to not be the norm. Like written here, what is profound is the number of people that deal with these problems and *keep moving forward.* They work through the pain and discomfort and distress and wake up everyday not hoping for healing but hoping that it doesn’t get worse.

It’s also very likely that a significant number of people that stand next to you and worship on Sunday morning had to overcome multiple hurdles just to be there. Their presence at that moment is a victory.

I applaud all of you; the ones I know and the ones that are there and none of us have any idea what it took to get you there.
