For the record, here’s James 1:19 (CSB) “My dear brothers and sisters, understand this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger…” and here’s James 1:20 to follow up “…for human anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness.”

I really like Dan’s point here. I’m sure this was written in response to the Rittenhouse verdict and if there was anything I learned last week is that cases like that are frustratingly complicated especially when you’re dealing with “why” someone has done something and not necessarily “what” they have done. There’s a lot to consider but it’s hard to talk when we’re angry and uninformed.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t speak or shouldn’t be angry. If I’m reading the verse correctly, it just shouldn’t be our first response.

I love the book of James so much.
