I had to rework the tweet a little to fit, here it is in its entirety:

*I’m probably the only one who's still bewildered by this, but I still find it weird there are Christian leaders on Twitter who are famous just for being a-holes. Not for boldly holding "unpopular opinions," but being actual jerks. Maybe just me, but still violates my expectation.

And when I say jerks/a-holes, I really don't mean they disagree with the left or hold unpopular views. I mean everything you'd associate with being an unkind person: mocking, snarking, condemning, never apologizing, punching down, making everything personal, no humility, etc.*

I don’t even know where to start with this but I do know I spend a lot of time on social media thinking “wow, that was especially harsh” or “that was flat out mean.”

I don’t think people should be nice necessarily; I’m not (and I don’t think Dr. Perry is either) talking about people who are terse or blunt on social media. But some people are *cruel.* They say things that are inherently true or at the least debate worthy in ways that pit people against each other.

They say it puts Jesus on pedestal but in reality it puts Jesus *and* them on the same pedestal and the rest of us are left out for our evil and misguided thoughts.

Maybe I’m misreading it? I had a heated person tweeting at me and I asked the person “what are you so angry with me about?” and their response was “I’m not angry, it’s all in good fun! 😉”

What is fun about being demeaned on social media? I knew I’d draw criticism for talking about my faith on social media; I just never thought my biggest detractors would be fellow Christians?

It’s just weird. And Dr. Perry you’re not the only one bewildered by this.
