“Community doesn’t exist until we are willing to inconvenience ourselves for each other.”

Sometimes these quotes can take some time to dig into. There’s circumstance and nuance and subtlety and I’ll find myself mulling over them for a while. But this one was so simple and poignant and universal that I couldn’t help but back up and listen to it again.

A thing I love to do with a quote is think of the question that the quote answers. For instance:

“How can we tell if a community exists?”

The question I answer this question with in line with this quote would be:

“Are people inconveniencing themselves for others?”

If so, it sounds like a community exists!

So simple. Well, simpler than the sentence structure in this caption at least. 🤦‍♂️
