Three things that make dialogue really hard in our culture:

1. When someone refuses to acknowledge that an issue is nuanced and
complex.

2. When someone refuses to acknowledge when something is clearly right
or wrong.

3. Our inability to discern which is which.

I almost, seriously, almost drew this tweet from Sharon:

But I figured this other one was more poignant. I don’t know, I may still do a text swap. 🤷‍♂️

Speaking to dialog though, how in the world do we change this culture? I think the thing that helps me is that by drawing these things I can’t just throw out any old opinion whenever I think about it; it takes at least an hour and sometimes more to select a quote, try to draw the person, export all the assets, write a caption, etc.

It’s like, I got one thing to say each day. Nothing was more detrimental to me than when I used to hit social media with the accelerator pushed to the floor throwing out posts and tweets at every little thing. How do we discern? I think we gotta slow waaaaay down. Speak boldy about the things we’re passionate and knowledgeable about and maybe pull back on the things we don’t know a lot about? 🤷‍♂️
