The church is the pillar and buttress of truth in the world

I’m the kind of person that has a hard time making decisions when it effects other people. For me, I’ll put myself through all kinds of suffering and trials with little thought or insight but if impacts other people (especially negatively) then I find myself having a really hard time making the decision. It what makes me a terrible manager. I don’t like to push people. I’ve got a lot of thoughts on this (good and bad) but that’s probably way more than the IG 2000 character limit will allow.

I think that’s why part of me strives here online; everything can be kinda theoretical because while I’m making content; nobody is coming to me with the really hard questions. And if they do, I don’t have to answer them. 🤷‍♂️ I don’t have to look someone in the eye and say something that could really shake what they believe and then deal with the negative outcome of that. I want to be the guy serving ice cream; nobody is mad at that guy. But I sometimes fear that when I do come to face to face with Jesus and he says, “What did you do with what I gave you?” I don’t think I want my answer to be “I just played it safe always.” I think that’s why I have a heart for pastors because they are the ones dealing with people struggling with some of these really difficult spiritual questions and sometimes the answers are really simple but very difficult.

I know some will find this statement problematic - and depending on what your church experience has been like I can totally understand. From a position of power this is a threatening statement. But when done right; Jesus is the head of the church; not a person or a power structure. And when Jesus is the head the church IS the pillar of truth. If Jesus isn’t the head then we’re just wasting our time and should be out there just getting ice cream instead.
