Here’s some sobering thoughts on a Thursday morning:

With each new generation of people in the US we are seeing a greater percentage of people with no religious affiliation.

As time passes; each generation is becoming less religious.

And to quote Rayn Burge - @graphsaboutreligion (the source of these sobering thoughts): “It seems statistically justifiable to say that the by the time the United States has another presidential election, half of Generation Z will identify as atheist, agnostic, or nothing in particular.”

Wow. 😳

Brady made a number of statements in this short video that are quote-worthy but this one stood out to me. I’m not trying to suggest we change how church is done and frankly, I’m not in any sort of professional ministry so it would be quite bloviating of me to suggest ways to do so behind my keyboard.

BUUUT I can evaluate my own comfort level in church. Frankly, what does discomfort look like to me as a Christian? What can I do that shows the love of Christ to a generation that is walking away from Him - even though it may be uncomfortable or not preferred? What do I need to let go off or hold onto even tighter?

The current generation of kids are, quite frankly, amazing. Curious, smart, witty, and super generous. They’re talented people with so much to offer. They’re worth putting aside our comfort and preferences.

NOTE: Brady was also on Carey Niewhof’s podcast and I’ve wanted to draw that whole thing out but in it’s a huge backlog that I’m not able to get to at the moment. Coming soon! Soon-ish. Actually it won’t be soon; someday maybe. I’m so behind. 🤦🏻‍♂️
