Nearly all the media you consume on a daily basis is…

“Nearly all the media you consume on a daily basis is intentionally cultivating your discontent for the benefit of the sort of people who profit off of unhappiness.”

If I don’t intentionally try, I find it’s really easy to get caught up in whatever controversy is brewing for that day. And there’s *always* something brewing that day.

It used to just be ads that told us we needed to be discontent but now it’s…seemingly everybody? A slew of commentators are out there to let us know why our thoughts are stupid, our phones are old, and nobody should drive the cars we drive.

And it’s so easy to listen to them. The new social proof is follower count and that guy, with 100k followers told me this thing I own is old, the thought I had is irrelevant, or the person I like is not a person I should like.

I think that’s why prayer is such a grounding practice. Put on the full armor of God indeed. I know personally if I open this app or Twitter* or whatever else; if I’m not explicitly ready to approach it with a good attitude and prepared heart I’ll jump right to giving my attention away to the first controversy that riles me up.

I’m off to find some amazing and beautiful content to share. 🙏🏻
