I got asked last week, “Do you still do your weekly sermon sketch notes or is it all quotes now?“

I do still do my weekly sketch notes! Sometimes they’re complete like this and other times it’s a bunch of scribbles and not so well produced. I found from time to time it’s really easy to turn my notes into a content-generation experience and not a learning experience. I’ve had a heart change once or twice when I realized that the end result was more “look at me” and less “look at Him.” So to that end, I don’t post all of my notes. Quite a lot of them go into a plastic storage container where I keep old notebooks never to be seen by anyone. I think it’s better that way.

These notes are from a sermon by @charlesbillingsley on Jesus cursing the fig tree. Truly fantastic, so much to take away from it. 🙏🏻

NOTE: I also get asked a lot “What pen do you use?“ I really like Japanese brush pens. This one in particular doesn’t look like it’s sold anymore and it’s the last one that I have so I need to buy another one! Just search for Japanese brush, pen or fude pen and you’ll find there’s a lot of really low-cost options that are a lot of fun to try out! Just avoid fountain pens unless you have some money you want to light on fire…
