I don't usually quote late 80's horror movies but here we are. "They Live" is not a movie I'd recommend for Sunday night youth group BUT it is one of those movies where you think, "Huh....they got a point."

Basically, it's a story of a group of aliens enslaving the world through an elaborate ploy to subdue people in the minutia of their lives. Roddy Piper finds a pair of glasses that let's him see the messages and who among us is actually one of these aliens.

You ever wonder about the role of social media here? They know they're playing to our base instincts and are totally fine pitting us against each other in the name of engagement and growth. They sell our pictures and our words like they are doing us a favor.

If you ever have a post that means the world to you and you asked these platforms to please just show it to all the people who follow you their answer is a hard NO. It’s their platform they can do what they want; but what they want is not what we want.

Maybe if we had a pair of glasses social media would look more like the second image. 👀
