Then tottering, struggling up

1 / 2
“Then tottering, struggling up, with her last strength she drove her sword between crown and mantle, as the great shoulders bowed before her. The sword broke sparkling into many shards. The crown rolled away with a clang. Éowyn fell forward upon her fallen foe. But lo! the mantle and hauberk were empty. Shapeless they lay now on the ground, torn and tumbled; and a cry went up into the shuddering air, and faded to a shrill wailing, passing with the wind, a voice bodiless and thin that died, and was swallowed up, and was never heard again in that age of this world.”
The Return of the King, The Battle of Pelennor Fields
I’m trying to feature more “not perfect” work; sometimes I mess with something over and over and over again and it’s never really where I want it and this is one those things. I got this suggestion over on twitter to create an Éowyn piece (cementing my status as the “things in heads” artist) and I quickly drew this one but I’ve never been happy with it and have tried over and over again to create a new one and just. keep. failing. 🤦🏻♂️
For my artist friends out there, just know that social media is a general collection of our better works. Generally I just post the ones that I’m happy with but there’s so much toil that’s hard to highlight on this platform.
