“It’s pretty striking that Paul does not list ‘truth’ among the fruit of the spirit. Knowledge of the truth is to what sets apart a Christian from a non-believer. It is abiding in the truth and the fruit of His character comes out in your character.”

So Skye made this point while talking about why people would follow leaders who are publicly lacking in character and the common response to this is “because they are speaking the truth.” I think he makes a salient point here about how even demons know the truth. It’s the transformation the truth has on our character that shows the fruit of Jesus in our lives; not merely speaking the truth.
I can see a Christian Dwight Schrute saying “Before I do anything, I ask myself ‘Does this display love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness or self-control? If it doesn’t, I do not do that thing.”
I mean…am I crazy, is it this simple? I feel like sometimes we twist ourselves around the biggest words and the grandest theologies when Jesus simply wants us to be people who model His character?
