I think God in His good wisdom knows men and women need one…

1 / 2
“I think God in His good wisdom knows men and women need one another, and it’s a need that goes deeper than roles, or biology, or mere form and function. A man doesn’t need a woman for sandwiches, dishwashing, or baby holding. A man can do those things. I can fix the dishwasher, and what do you know? I found that screw and it looks like I did fix it real good too. And if a man can’t fix the dishwasher he can buy a new one, or learn how to scrub dishes with his mighty man hands. A man can go to Subway or the deli or heaven forbid, learn to use a butter knife and whip up a sandwich. Someday that wife of yours is going to die, and you’ll wish she had spent more time in your arms than in your kitchen.
A man can do all sorts of things.
But a man cannot reduce a woman to dishwashing, or sandwich making, or hair. He can, of course, and he’d still be a man. She can, or not, and still be a woman. The only difference is that he would not be a wise man. And he would waste the life of a good woman, caring about what other boys think about his family rather than figuring out what works for his family. ”

It seems pretty common that these arguments on Twitter happen about “what it means to be a man” or “The Natural Use of the Woman” 👈 That’s a real title to a real video made by a real person. One day it’s arguing men should cut their long hair and “look like a man” or that “women were designed to make the sandwiches.”
I don’t know, maybe there’s a place for this stuff but doesn’t it seem silly? When I think of my wife, who I will have been married to for 25 years this year, none of this silliness matters. I hope they know of a love that makes all this commentary and pettiness void. The day is coming, and I hope it’s way out there in the future - farther than I can see or imagine - where my wife and I will be separated by something in this world and I pray that we haven’t wasted any time on who was “supposed” to make the sandwiches or whether or not I “looked manly” enough.
I all for having hills to die on, we have to stand up for things. But for crying out loud, don’t sacrifice yourself on a hill of silliness.
