The path Jesus invites us on is a lifelong journey. No one commits to following Christ and just gets steadily holier and holier and holier until they burst like a sanctified piñata full of wordless gospel bracelets, glitter, and “Testamints.” It’s a pattern of growth and setbacks. Everyone has to learn, and then be reminded, and then be reminded again. If you’re still wrestling with applying fundamental truths years after learning them, you’re in good company. Don’t give up. Keep at it. It’s a long road. We’d all be a little farther along with it if any of us could remember where we put our keys.

Let me just say; the Bible IS funny. I’m not saying God is funny or silly or that I’m making light of Him; He is holy and pure and righteous and good and 100% all that all the time every minute of every day from here to eternity.

But the Bible is about people and people are way funny. We mess up all the time. You’d think we’d have it figured out by now but we're not even close. Even the disciples, those who spent more time with Jesus other than His family were constantly messing things up. I think that’s why the Bible talks about grace so much because we need it so badly and in good measure.

It’s helped me to recognize this. When the journey is about growth and not about perfection it’s much easier to deal with all the speed bumps and sinkholes that come along the way. Mistakes are made constantly but by His grace we carry on. 🙏

This is such a fun book, amidst the levity it's poignant and interesting and there were a few times where I thought "is that really in the Bible??" and it was! 😱
