In regard to ’stumbling blocks

“In regard to ’stumbling blocks,’ the answer is we need to teach boys to respect girls and treat them properly regardless of what they happen to be wearing.”

@sheilagregoire and @rebeccalindenbach on episode 79 of the Love, Honor, and Vacuum podcast

Now that the comments on the Bathsheba post have calmed down, let’s talk about stumbling blocks! 😅

I had attempted to make this drawing before but for some reason I couldn’t get it to a decent place so I scrapped it. Sheila mentioned this episode again on her blog so I figured I’d give it another shot even though we’re not currently talking about yoga pants on twitter. 🤷🏻‍♂️I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

I found the whole episode very interesting and they really discuss a range of problems with seeing women as stumbling blocks - especially young women. I’m all for discussing what we wear but let’s do it with the heart of what we are trying to say with our clothing and not some strange attempt to cover up all the woman parts in case some man sees her and has *lustful thoughts.* It seems like the discussion should also include things like rare sneakers or Rolex’s.

Let’s approach each other with a dump truck full of grace and not try to damage one person to *save* another.

My advice for men? First, noticing that a woman is attractive or even noticing her at all is not a sin. Engaging in the leering and following and all the other creepy behavior is where things go off the rails. Notice and move on. Besides, you’re not at Target to looks at butts, your there to see if they have any PS5’s and OH MAN they STILL don’t have them in stock!? What the heck Sony it’s been TWO YEARS!
