You know what’s interesting? I used to think people used labels to categorize other people and have a framework from which they could operate. For example if I label someone a “christian nationalist” that allows me to put all of my feelings and opinions on that person without really having to know who they are. Same goes for “social justice warrior” or “lib” or “feminist” or “fundy” and on and on.

The more I spend time online though, I think labels mean something different. A label is a way to tell a person “I figured you out and I don’t care what you have to say.”

People are way too interesting to not listen to their stories and life experiences. If you’re the kind of person that can only listen to and learn from another specific kind of person you may be limiting yourself. And unfortunately I don’t have a label for that. 🤷‍♂️
