“Your strength is not in numbers, nor does your might depend upon the powerful. You are God of the lowly, helper of those of little account, supporter of the weak, protector of those in despair, savior of those without hope.

Please, please, God of my father, God of the heritage of Israel, Master of heaven and earth, Creator of the waters, King of all you have created, hear my prayer! Let my deceitful words wound and bruise those who have planned dire things against your covenant, your holy temple, Mount Zion, and the house your children possess. Make every nation and every tribe know clearly that you are God, the God of all power and might, and that there is no other who shields the people of Israel but you alone.”

Judith 9:11-14

So, a while ago I agreed to make some art for @thebiblebinge and I don’t know what it is but usually when I agree to these things I get a curve ball of some sorts. Evan sent me over the episode and I saw the title and I was like “Judith? Like….from the apocrypha??”

YES. THAT Judith. 😱

While not considered canon; I really enjoyed learning about Judith and her triumph over Holofernes! The language and descriptions are poetic and God is definitely honored in this text. While I highlight Judith here; God’s name is glorified for sure!

It’s a great episode and if you haven’t listened to the Bible Binge before it’s like listening to your really smart and clever friends break down a specific book of the Bible. I can’t get enough of it; so entertaining and so informative!

Also fun fact, there was a discussion on how much decapitation was suitable for Instagram. 💀
